But I will admit that if his faith had been as a grain of mustard seed...He would have known that his affairs were in high charge, and that in the full flow of the fountain of prosperity, as well as in the scanty, gravelly driblets from the pump of poverty, the supply all came from the throne of God, and he would not have felt poor. A man ought never to feel rich because of riches, nor poor because of poverty. The perfect man must always feel rich, because God is rich.
-George MacDonald
On July 31, Jim called home an hour early to say he was on his way- and that he wouldn't be going back to work the next day...or back to his office again.
The buyout we had expected to take place to save the company just didn't happen in time, and the doors were forced closed. Hundreds of people went home without jobs. Absolutely everyone was let go. From the top to the bottom. No warning of two weeks, just one announcement. Many of them had worked there for decades, some even 40 years or more. It was just so, so sad for so many people.

We felt good peace and assurance immediately. We were not any more in need of the Lord on July 31 than we were on July 30.
We were actually very, very excited. We knew God was not surprised, and we gathered together that night and talked and prayed as a family, and took the opportunity to let our kids in on all that was happening.
From the very beginning, we all saw this as a precious gift. A gift of time together that we have never had before, that we never would have had any other way.
We absolutely love being together, and we knew while we waited for God's prepared provision of a new job, we would feast on this good, good gift of time.
It was excellent.
We spent the long and lazy month of August at home, in the garden, in the kitchen, at the zoo, at the park, at the library, sleeping in, snuggling with our kids, eating every meal together.
And on September 2, Jim was offered a new position, and after a few days and some discerning, we felt certain this was what God had made ready for us and he accepted.
And in that long and lazy month, I have never felt more rich.

wow. Situations like that do take faith.
beautiful Megan. I'm so glad that God used that time to grow you, to see his goodness in the situation. I'm thankful that I was able to pray along side you during August and praise God for giving Jim a new job in a fairly short amount of time.
Praise him!
I'm glad you enjoyed your time together, and am so happy to hear Jim has a new job. How wonderful!!
I think it amazing that you both had such a positive attitude and you were able to trust the Lord. In the situation that my husband and I went through it was a constant struggle to Trust God that we truly would survive and be okay. Thanks for sharing this:)
Sounds like your family had a fun month together!!!
I hope your husband enjoys his new job:)

God is good and always in control. I am glad that you all were able to enjoy that time together and have peace about it. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on helping my 4year old learn his letters. I work outside of the home and he is in a really good daycare program, but his attention level is next to none.
That is absolutley beautiful Megan. Time together is so precious and it's wonderful that you took that situation and enjoyed it instead of worrying the whole time and missing the wonderful Blessing God had right in front of you.
Love it!
What strong, confident faith you have. I wish more of us could be like you and your husband. I am so glad to hear you had meaningful family time during that time period, and I am sure your family relationship is much stronger for it.
What a beautiful, God given gift!!!
It is so amazing to watch you walk in faith like that. I'm not sure I would have the courage to be so humble and rely on God. I hope to be more like your family!
What a wonderful faith promoting story. You are an amazing girl with an amazing family.
I just love you Megan...not many could look at being out of work as a "good time"... it just shows that faith is a part of your lives...not just talk.
Good for you! I hope that your hubby enjoys his new job.
what a splendid testimony. thank you for sharing!
