Lately Patience has snuggled much. Always ready to hug a short, sweet hug, with a sweet, scrunched-up smile, we have cuddled often in her 3 1/2 years. But lately, she comes and finds me. She leaves the fun of play with her sisters and seeks me out. Just to sit. Just to wrap her arms around my neck and squeeze and squeeze. She seems to want to linger lately, to soak up as many extra sweet nuzzles as we can. No words, just nuzzle.
I believe she knows what I know.
Soon her thick, squishy body, perfectly proportioned for holding and cuddling, will grow longer. The last sweet remnants of her baby-ness, her chubby fingers and legs, her soft squishy-ness so lovely to just squeeze softly as it's wrapped around me will turn to a lanky, pointy reminder of how fleeting our time is, for snuggling and whispering and kissing and squeezing.
So we stop what we are doing and we squeeze. No words, just nuzzle.

Aww, you know she might know that! I got extra snuggly with my dad in middle school because I had seen Father of the Bride and felt like leaving was just around the corner.:(
So bittersweet!
Squeeze and cuddle that sweet girl up!
Snuggles are the best, especially when they come to you.
I hear you Megan. My 3-year-old goddaughter Riley does this all the time. She always comes up to me and says she wants a hug and a kiss. How sweet!
Oh, that is so sweet! Enjoy this time!
Aww - that is so sweet. I'm gonna go snuggle with my 4 year old right now!
very sweet friend.
enjoy all the extra cuddles and snuggles.
I'm trying to enjoy those moments too! They go by so quickly.
I cant bear to think about the squishy legs being no more! Awwww
Beautifully written! It's good to remember that the chubby snuggliness isn't for keeps. I will nuzzle my squishy ones a little extra today.
That's so wonderful.
I love it (usually) when my girl says, "Mama, I dist need some snuddle-ing."
Aw~ beautifully written!!!& I love that picture :)
what a great post. Its amazing how quickly they grow. My oldest is also 3 1/2 and I swear just the other day I looked at him and its harder and harder to see that toddler that he used to be. Now its just little boy big time.
