Baby Girl, I don't want you to do this just so you're "good"...

"I don't just want my kids to be moral. I don't just want them to know all of the biblical rules for behavior. I don't just want them to make it through my home with good grades, no drug addiction, and no premarital sex.
I want them to leave my home with a hunger and passion to know God personally and to be used by him to accomplish great things for his kingdom. I want them to personally hear God's voice and have his Spirit's gentle touch and impression on their hearts as they read the Scriptures and struggle with the issues of their lives.
That's what God wants for our children as well."
-Sally Clarkson, The Mission of Motherhood

Oh! I'm so glad you are reading this book! I am reading it too...well in the slowest possible way you can! This is such a good Biblically based book. Have you read The Ministry Of Motherhood? I have not...yet.

I have been thinking along these same lines lately, especially in the area of discipline. I want to discipline my children in a way that causes heart change - and helps them keep their heart soft toward the Lord, not just "behavior modification". This quote is a wonderful reminder. I'll have to take a look at the book. Thanks!

I love that quote! I'll have to put the book on my list for "someday"! Have you heard about the book "Grace-Based Parenting"?

I just finished it. (REALLY took my time with it!) But it was great! Really loved the "something to try" sections. Got a great laugh about her musical family...that is something that we could NEVER have. (tone deaf left and right!)

Amen sista. I'm totally posting this in my bathroom.(which is where I hang verses & quotes I want to read over and over & memorize. Right across from where you sit--works for me!)
