For those of you that don't know, Jim is a Truss Designer. He describes his job as a cross between an engineer and an architect, and he really loves it. Most days he comes home and tries to explain something that he did at work to me- either because he is excited about it, or because it frustrated him. Most of the time, I have no idea what he's saying. If I had pictures a little more often, it would help. Jim recently designed the trusses for the replacement housing at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. A contractor sent him some pictures last week, thinking Jim might want to see what the finished product looked like on site. (The entire project Jim worked on was huge- this is just one of the buildings.) I thought it would be fun to share them with you. So, here's a little of what Jim creates at work...
This is 1/3 of the roof for a six-plex (42' x 42'). It's assembled on the ground and lifted into place as a single assembly.

Now it's ready to be adjusted for final placement.

When Daniel first started with Recruiting he would come home and talk with me about his day. I would nod my head and say all the appropriate responses, but I didn't have a clue what he was talking about! Now, I can speak recruiter-ese with the best of them. :)
Malmstrom was one the bases we dreaded seeing on the list. But, that housing is beautiful - and NO snow!! Hey, Montana's looking not too shabby!
